It's not actually unusual to get snow in March here... it has happened up to the end of April even... but we haven't had ANY snow (that stayed the night) all winter and then all of a sudden we get a good thorough powder now with some serious freezing? The trees had already started blooming and we had moved on from snowdrops and daffodils to the less hardy spring flowers... a week before this picture, we COULD have worked outdoors without our coats on.
Groundhog day was brought over from Europe I think... At least it's the same date that people used to take omens about the length of winter here... It was important back when people and beasts would starve in early spring... and you needed to make your food last until things started growing again.

LOL! Mother Nature needs a psychiatrist, seriously. Snow in Denmark over Easter! Snow in Seattle today! Curiouser & curiouser!
