Easter
Last weekend, I had planned to visit my bff (best friend forever) to harvest willow and sit outside in the nice spring weather and weave baskets for a couple of days...
Turns out, the nice spring weather had other plans

Pretty as it was, it was bitterly cold, and we decided to stay inside with her and her husband's animules instead. They have several, so let me introduce:

Igmu the grey and Kamir the tux are the girl cats. Igmu is commander in chief of the household... If she stares at somebody, they instantly lie down and look somewhere else... and as innocent as they possibly can.

The boy cats are Mads and Pixie. Mads is a sweet goofy marmalade maine coon and Pixie is a standard issue tabby ex barn-cat who loves the great outdoors.

Mary the snake wasss very busssy knocking things over, and there had been a coup in the gerbil-palace where the old queen was dethroned by one of her own daughters - very distressing to their humans. Gerbils had to be separated to restore order. Punishments involving Mary were discussed.... I won't get into the details.
I forgot to take pictures of the horses, but there's an icelandic horse and a large ?oldenborger horse in the household as well... plus Mary's fuds of course... but we try not to think of them too much.
We also went to the zoo and saw not one but TWO two-toed sloths. (Did I tell you I like sloths? I do!!)
We also saw another of my favorite animals... the manatee.

My pictures are horrible, but you can sort of see them munching on lettuce. The zoo had some really great habitats, where we could walk around inside a dome with animals roaming free around us. Oh, and the penguins were fantastic, but by then my camera had run out of battery.
So... basket weaving was postponed to sometime later, but I had a great time.

Whut pretteh kittehs. And Igmu SO means business.
Too bad about the cold weather, though. Sounds like you had a good time anyway. the pix are GREAT! Kitty pix are adorable -- and so is the gerbil. Mary looks very snake-pretty. The MANATEES are beautiful! They look to me like if they were human, they'd be nice people to know. You know?
I loved the tour of your bff's animules!!! Great stories of each and lol at the gerbil coup! The kitties are gorgeous. The manatees so fun to watch!
I hope next time you can basketweave so we can see pictures of that, too! :)
The gerbil dynasty actually stems from a fud that Mary wouldn't eat... and after a while the fud grew on the humans and they couldn't feed it to Mary anymore... so they got another gerbil to keep it company... and there was much happiness in the gerbil palace.... until this coup happened.
The manatees do look so friendly and calm. I'm sure they'd be nice people. I was mesmerized by the movements they can do with their upper lips... they are SO mobile they can grab food and stuff it in their mouths with just the upper lip.
Lol about the fud that the snake wouldn't eat. My daughter's boyfriend's roommate....whew....has a snake who wouldn't eat his whiterat fud and then they got attached to the rat, too and bought it it's own cage and toys and stuff.
